★韓国のラッパー、サイの江南スタイル(Gangnam Style)がアメリカで爆発的な人気を博し、ユーチューブはサイの動画再生ヒット数が8億回以上に達し、ヒット数の最高記録を達成したと公式に報じたというニュースをTimeが伝えています。

11月の25日現在、ヒット数は8億2千6百万を超えているという。そして毎日1000万回以上再生されているという。

ユーチューブの関係者の話によると、サイの一風変わった ダンスビデオの人気が伝わる速さはまさに驚異的だとのこと。

これまでの再生最高記録を出したビーバーの"Baby"がユーチューブ上にアップロードされたのは2010年の10月だったが、サイのビデオがアップロードされたのは今年の7月のことだ。

アメリカのミュージックの祭典、American Music Awardの最後に登場したサイは特別ゲストのMC Hammerと一緒に江南スタイル(Gangnam Style)を披露。

会場には大勢のゲストスターがいたが、会場は2人が踊るガンナムスタイルにすっかりはまってしまったようだ。

Gangnam Style(ガンナムスタイル)はアメリカではinvisible horse dance actionsと呼ばれているようです。
直訳すると「目に見えない馬乗りダンスアクション」か?。

Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ Is Now the Most-Watched YouTube Video of All Time

South Korean rapper Psy’s unexpected hit “Gangnam Style” has officially become the most-watched YouTube video ever, beating Justin Bieber’s smash hit “Baby.”

YouTube announced on its Trends blog Saturday that “Gangnam Style” has been viewed over 805 million times and still gets up to 10 million hits each day. As of Monday the video has now received over 826 million views.

According to YouTube, the “velocity of popularity for Psy’s outlandish video is unprecedented.” Bieber’s “Baby” was uploaded to the site back in February 2010, while Psy’s video was uploaded in July.

The ubiquitous video, which pokes fun of a rich neighborhood in Seoul, has inspired plenty of copies, mashups and parodies by people from Google CEO Eric Schmidt to Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei to this robot.

But fret not, Bieber, your VEVO channel has over 3 billion hits.
