野田民主党政権に新たな打撃、修復困難?
防衛省で報道陣に囲まれる田中局長
防衛省沖縄防衛局の田中聡局長が、女性を軽視するような暴言を吐いたとして更迭されることになった。
いくらオフレコが条件の懇談の席とはいえ、政府官僚として、あまりにも低次元の発言だ。というよりは人間としての品位が問われる発言だ。
この程度の官僚(防衛省幹部)が日本の政治の中枢にいるなんて、日本人として情けなくなる。
またしても日本の恥が海外に知れ渡ってしまった。日本の政治の貧困は一体いつまで続くのだろうか。
今回の官僚トップの失言問題をAFPが伝えていますが、この問題、オバマ政権はどう見ているのか、民主党政権にとっては非常に気になるところだ。
それにしても、田中局長の更迭、あまりにもスピーディーだったのは、日本国民のためなのか、それともアメリカ政府に気を使ったのか、腑に落ちないところがある。
いずれにしても、こういう程度の低い政治家には即刻退場してもらうしかないでしょう。

Senior defense official fired for Okinawa 'rape' slur
TOKYO —
A senior Japanese defense official was fired Tuesday for his “rape” remarks in explaining the government’s controversial plan to relocate a key US base in Okinawa.
Defense Minister Yasuo Ichikawa said he had fired Satoshi Tanaka, chief of his ministry’s branch in Okinawa, for the comment which has angered people in the subtropical island chain, burdened with a heavy U.S. military presence.
“I have concluded that there is no room for excuses,” the minister told a news conference.
According to Japanese media, Tanaka told reporters during a casual drinking session in the main Okinawan city of Naha on Monday night: “Do you declare, ‘I am going to rape you,’ when you rape someone?”
The 50-year-old Tanaka used the word “okasu,” a word meaning “violate” but often used to imply sexual assault of women. Japanese media took it to mean “rape.”
Tanaka was answering a question on why the government has never given a clear timetable for submitting to Okinawa an environmental assessment report, which might help move the relocation plan forward.
The island group, where fierce battles were fought in the closing days of World War II, is especially sensitive to such a comment after the rape of a 12-year-old Okinawan girl by three U.S. servicemen in 1995.
