Ichihara crazy about 'Dog x Police' canine co-star
Actor Hayato Ichihara, 24, says he is crazy about his canine co-star in Go Shichitaka’s upcoming detective movie “Dog x Police.” Ichihara appeared before reporters with his co-star, Shiro, a female Swiss shepherd rescue dog. “I am in love with her. She really became like an intimate companion for me,” Ichihara said with a smile referring to the long and difficult months and hours he spent in training with Shiro.
Erika Toda, 22, who plays a detective in the movie, said she almost felt like she was in a comic book as she was constantly pulled along by her 40-kg co-star (the dog, not Ichihara).
In the film, Ichihara and Toda play officers belonging to a counter-terrorist unit. Toda’s character is also in charge of training “Handler,” the rescue dog. The movie opens in theaters on Oct 1.
